PSA: Twitter

From approximately 2018-2022, I was very active on Twitter in the digital analytics professional community. I left Twitter almost exactly a year ago and closed my account entirely, which means the handle “@annealytics” went up for grabs.

To be fair, prior to 2018 (a few years prior), this handle was used by someone else in the analytics community, and there are even old DAA articles referencing the handle that belonged to her before it belonged to me. I have had the nickname since 2012 (given by others), but couldn’t get the handle until later.

Now, the torch has passed along to someone else. Since I’m no longer on X/Twitter, I can’t read the posts, but I did see it pop up for long enough to see that the entire bio consisted of “Loves analytics.” Most of you know that I would be more descriptive than that, so hopefully it is easy to conclude that this account is no longer me, but I am posting formally about it in a few places to prevent any potential confusion.

I’ve got lots of things to say as far as thoughts about the current analytics environment, but many others have expressed them in detail, so I can’t be sure when my next post will be on here, but distancing myself from this random Twitter user was important enough for me to hop on real quick. Hope you all are doing as well as possible in the midst of *gestures broadly.*
